Rooms That Divide, Screens That Stay Put

Every room but the Poplar carries a projector screen, and three of them sit behind one set of airwalls, so a general session becomes three breakouts and nobody loses a display.

The Four Rooms A Conference Uses

Capacities below are the property's published figures. It publishes banquet round capacities only, plus the Maple's seminar figure, so a theater or classroom number for any of these rooms has to come from the coordinator rather than from a page.

Maple

1,146 square feet, the only per-room square footage the property publishes. Up to 100 for a meeting, seminar or workshop. Built-in sound system, projector screen, western windows, and an airwall for smaller groups. Nearest the Elements Restaurant.

The Cottonwood, Juniper and Elm airwalls opened into one long room set in classroom rows facing a projection screen.

Cottonwood-Juniper-Elm

160 combined, or three rooms of 48 with the airwalls back. Each third keeps its own projector screen, three in total, which is the reason this wing is the most useful thing in the building for a conference.

Cherry

The small room, about 24 with banquet rounds. Doors to the outside and enough daylight that a full day in it does not feel like a basement. The property uses it for smaller, more intimate events and for break-off sessions.

304 combined for the general session or the awards dinner, 128 in each half. Elevated ceilings, projector screens, built-in speakers, and mounted projectors available to rent.

The property publishes no audio-visual rate card, which is worth knowing before you budget. It is a question for the coordinator, and it should be asked early.

Pick The Week On Purpose

Logan runs on Utah State's calendar, and a conference planner who knows the dates gets a materially better week. These are the published academic dates for 2026 and 2027.

Summer Citizens

Eight Hundred People In Town, All Summer

Summer Citizens is a Logan program for adults aged 55 and over who rent housing in Cache Valley for the season and take university and technical-college classes while they are here. It is a seasonal resident population, not a tour group, and 2026 is its 50th season with over 800 people enrolled.

Where It Came From

Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho ran a summer program for the 55-plus generation called the Sunbirds. When the Teton Dam failed in June 1976 and put roughly 80 billion gallons of water through the area, Utah State took the displaced Sunbirds in. Enough of them planned to come back the following summer that the program started in 1977, under President Glenn Taggart with Ross Peterson. Peterson's account of the founding is that they got furnished apartments first and then thought about things to do.

Utah State ran it for about 48 years. Management moved to the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce in 2023, effective for the 2024 season. The university still provides housing, including Aggie Village, and still provides the summer courses.

Who Is Actually Here

Most come from Arizona, out of the summer heat, with more from California, Texas and across the Intermountain West. They arrive from May, build through June, rent for about four months, and the season runs through mid-September. Many have been coming for a decade or more. Logan's mayor addresses them as citizens of the town, because for a third of the year they are. In the 50th season the program was opened to Logan residents as well.

What It Means For This Building

They are here for four months in the exact window the university population is gone. That is the counter-cyclical audience a venue needs to hold May to September.
Over 800 people with time and a stated appetite for organized daytime activity, which is the single hardest slot for any event venue to fill.
They come back year over year, so a Monday that works one summer refills itself the next.
Lunches, socials, class receptions and an end-of-season banquet are all real catering.
Adult children and grandchildren fly in during the summer, which is hotel rooms and small private events on top.

Running Now: Monday Mahjong

Mondays, 2 to 4pm in the Willow, all summer from June 8, hosted with Bridgerland Mahjong. Free open play, all experience levels welcome. Bring your 2026 National Mahjong League card, and a tile set if you are willing to share one.

Enrollment in Summer Citizens is handled by the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce and Utah State, not by this building. Registration for the 2026 session opened on 2 February 2026.

Lodging On The Same Campus

SpringHill Suites by Marriott is directly connected to the conference center. Suites run about 25 percent larger than a standard hotel room, with separate eating and sleeping areas, a work desk, two bathrooms in each suite, and a pullout sofa bed.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott is the only extended stay hotel in Cache Valley, with three suite floor plans, full kitchens with stocked kitchenware and complimentary breakfast.

Neither hotel publishes a group rate or a room block process anywhere today, and both booking buttons on the property's site go to the public Marriott transient booking page, which cannot take a block. Ask for a block on the request form and it goes to a person.
